Appeal Court Affirms NSC as Port Economic Regulator ... Declares Shipping Lines Agency Charges illegal

The Court of Appeal on Wednesday 21/6/2017 ruled that the Nigerian Shippers' Council (NSC) has the legal right to stop the illegal collection of Shipping Line Agency Charges by the Alraine Shipping Agencies and others.  The Court in its judgement also affirmed the Council as Port Economic Regulator and nullified the Shipping Line Agency Charges.

The Court further ordered the appellants, Alraine Shipping Agencies Nigeria Limited and others to immediately stop the collection of SLAC and account to NSC for SLAC collected from 2006 till date at 21% interest rates.
