CEO’s Message
Emmanuel Jime
EXECUTIVE SECRETARY/CEO
On behalf of the Governing Board, Management and the
entire staff of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, I heartily welcome you to the
official website of the Council. It is my hope that you will find the
information provided here useful and relevant.
The Nigerian Shippers’ Council being the Port Economic
Regulator and a trade facilitation agency, has the responsibility to promote
fair trade practices in the industry amongst the providers and consumers of
shipping and port services. Therefore, the Council remains resolutely
determined to be the foremost economic regulatory agency in the country.
As we are aware, the important role of transport and
logistics in international trade cannot be over-emphasized. The Council as the
port economic regulator is mandated to ensure that the quality, quantity and
cost of services in the entire transportation and logistics chain is moderated
and standardized in line with global best practice.
The Website provides you with relevant industry-based information
necessary for doing business competitively. In addition, the website provides procedures
for lodging complaints, information on trade policies, port charges, tariffs, local
shipping charges, freight rates, etc.
The trade hub page explains the Standard Operating
Procedures (SOPs) expected of providers of shipping services at Nigerian Ports
as well as Imports and Exports guidelines and Imports/Exports Prohibition
lists.
Other contents on the website focus on detailed
information on Transport Support Infrastructure being promoted by the Council,
which include; the Inland Dry Ports (IDPs), Vehicle Transit Areas (VTAs), the
Border Information Centres (BICs) and Sea link project.
Suggestions or comments on the website would be
appreciated and should be sent to comments@shipperscouncil.gov.ng for further improvement
of the Website.
Thank you for visiting.
