NSC, PEBEC World Bank Doing Business Awards 2020

The Nigerian Shippers’ Council has for a second consecutive year received the World Bank Doing Business 2019 Ranking  Award, Trading Across Borders at the 3rd Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council, Awards (PEBEC) held at the State House, Abuja on 11th March,2020, under the Chairmanship of  the Vice President Prof.Yemi Osinbanjo, SAN GCON, the Chairman of PEBEC. 
The Award received by the Nigerian Shippers’ Council was in recognition of its contributions to the implementation of reforms  within the Trading Across Borders Indicator of the World Bank Doing Business which saw to Nigeria move up 15 places on the World Bank Doing Business ranking 2020. The Reform Champion of the NSC at PEBEC, Miss Adaora Nwonu also received a  World Bank 2020 Doing Business Index ,Special Recognition Award. In his statements, Prof. Yemi Osinbanjo reiterated the critical place of an enabling business environment in a nation’s ability to grow in a sustainable manner and the prosperity of its people. He commended the Awardees and urged them to keep up the good work and go the extra mile in supporting the actualization of the Federal Government’s reforms towards ensuring a conducive business environment.The Special Adviser to the President on Ease of Doing Business / PEBEC Secretary, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, while acknowledging the support of MDAs and the private sector institutions for the improvement recorded by Nigeria on the World Bank Doing Business ranking and being  named among the top ten most improved economies for a second time, noted that there was still more work to be done to attain the target of being among the top 70 by 2023 on the World Bank Doing Business ranking..The Nigerian Shippers’ Council is one of the priority MDAs of the Ease of Doing Business agenda of the Federal Government.
