Shippers’ Council Hosts Performance Management System Workshop for Directors and Heads of Units

Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), has organized a Performance Management System (PMS) workshop for its Directors, Deputy Directors and Heads of Units, reaffirming its commitment to driving institutional efficiency and aligning with the policy thrust of the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.

The workshop builds on the recent signing of a Performance Bond by Directors and Heads of Units with the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Akutah Pius, MON, during the Council’s Special Management Retreat in Lagos. This latest effort represents a strategic step towards cascading performance targets to all cadres of staff.

Speaking at the opening session, the Director of Human Resources Management, Mr. Ahmed Garta, highlighted the significance of the PMS framework to the Council’s operations. He urged participants to approach the training with seriousness and to demonstrate commitment to achieving measurable outcomes.

Facilitator of the workshop, Prof. Adeyemi Ajayi, provided extensive insights into the principles and practices of performance management.

He expressed optimism that the programme would not only strengthen staff capacity but also translate into tangible improvements in the Council’s overall performance.

The NSC noted that the initiative is part of its broader drive to entrench a performance-based culture, where efficiency and accountability define service delivery.
