The Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer Mr.Hassan Bello has charge the Management of the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) to take full ownership and Management of the Apapa axis in other to address the perennial traffic gridlock in the area.
Bello who said this in an interview in Lagos recently, explained that before any structure is erected in the area, the owners should get permission from NPA.
He however decried indiscriminate erecting of structure in the Ports area without obtaining any permission from the NPA.
He also blamed lack of planning as the major reason, there is chaos in the axis.
“For example,Apapa should be owned by the NPA: all of it even a kiosks that you put in Apapa you have acquire a permission from the NPA, but it is not what is happening now, what we have is lack of planning, but I think we have a Port plan and we are taking seriously to address all these challenges”he assured.
