Mr. Saidu Idris has retired from Nigerian Shippers’ Council after attaining the mandatory retirement age of sixty years and thirty years in service.
Mr. Saidu Idris joined the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), in Lagos on 14th May, 1990 as a watchman guard on Grade Level 02.
Through hard work, commitment and dedication, he rose to the position of Chief Operations Officer at the Council’s Minna Area Office in Niger State in 1992 where he retired.
In his keynote address, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Council, Barr. Akutah Pius, MON, who was represented by the Director, Inland Transport Services, Mrs. Ify Okolue, felicitated with the retiree on the auspicious occasion. He commended the celebrant’s integrity and good nature.
Members of Council’s management team poured encomiums on the retiree for his humility, tolerance and commitment to assigned responsibilities while in service. Among the team were the Deputy Director Internal Audit, Alhaji Mohammed Zubairu, Mrs. Hannah Adaba, the representative of Special Marshal in NSC and Mr. James Atilola, the Assistant Director, Monitoring and Intermodal Coordination, Inland Transport Services Department. They appreciated the retiree for his uprightness, hard work and commitment throughout his service the Council.
In his goodwill message, the President, Senior Staff Association, NSC, Comrade Muktar Yakubu said the retiree has been one of the most committed members of the Association noting that the pivotal role he has played can never be overlooked as an executive of the Association.
In his response, the celebrant appreciated everyone for their presence, love, and encomiums poured on him. In his words, ‘I thank the Almighty God who has brought me this far in Nigerian Shippers’ Council as a staff. Working in Shippers’ Council was indeed a milestone in the history of my life as a staff. Reminiscing my beginning, it was a metamorphosis from one position to another. However, I climbed the ladder through unflinching support from the Directors and other superior officers.
