The Federal Government is actively supporting the Implementation of Inter-national Cargo Tracking Note (ICTN) by Nigerian Shippers’ Council.
The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Council, Barrister Pius Akutah stated this at the NSC’s Headquarters in Lagos, recently.
The implementation of ICTN scheme will abate concealment and wrong classifications of cargo, address under declaration, secure imports and exports, as well as provide transparency in cargo invoicing and declaration
The NSC boss further stated that the Ministry of Marine & Blue Economy has given the Council the support to pursue the Council’s law which is presently at the National Assembly.
The Law, he said, would give the NSC the impetus to achieve success as an agency under the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.
He appreciated the NSC’s management for success recorded before his assumption of office, adding that more is still expected from them.
He called on the Council’s management to pursue the completion of the Inland Dry Port projects at the designated locations and ensure that they are commissioned.
Mr. Akutah lamented the deplorable state of access roads to ports and other infrastructures which are impeding trade facilitation.
Recall that Mr. Akutah while addressing the NSC’s management on assumption of office harped on team work in the administration of the Council, further expressing his readiness to reward hard work.
The Director, Strategic Planning and Research Department of the Council, Mr. Rotimi Anifowose made a presentation on NSC, focusing on the history of the Council, its projects and regulatory activities.
