ES/CEO Barr. Pius .U. Akutah, MON, along with a team of NSC directors, appeared before the House Committees on Shipping Services; Customs; Ports and Harbor and the Maritime Safety, Education and Administration, for an investigative hearing on the circumstances surrounding the non-implementation of the International Cargo Tracking Note (ICTN), at the National Assembly Complex, on Monday the 28th of October, 2024.
Chairman House Committee on Shipping Services, Hon. Abdulsamad Dasuki, stated, “despite its approval and the commitment of various stakeholders, progress towards implementing the ICTN has been hampered by significant challenges like…bureaucratic delays…limited coordination among key stakeholders…”
In his opening address, the ES emphasized the NSC’s willingness to provide all the information available to assist every agencies involved, to take the step further in ensuring the implementation of the ICTN.
Others present at the interactive session were the representative of the Hon. Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Hon. Adegboyega Oyetola, Hon. Minister of Finance, Wale Edun and DG ICRC, representatives of sister agencies and stakeholders among others.
Before adjourning the session, Hon. Dasuki stated that further deliberations would hold with all relevant agencies.
