The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has launched a new email and telephone systems manual to streamline operations and reduce paper usage. It was unveiled at the NSC headquarters in Lagos.
Executive Secretary and CEO of NSC, Barr. Akutah Pius, MON, highlighted the importance of the new communication tools in enhancing internal processes. The ES/CEO who was represented by Director Human Resources Mrs Adaku Okam, emphasized the need for robust cybersecurity practices to protect against hacking, urging staff vigilance in verifying email authenticity.
These developments were further elaborated upon by Assistant Director of ICT, Mr. Kenneth Harrison, who emphasized the integration of the new email system with the upcoming Enterprise Content Management System (ECMS). He encouraged staff to utilize official email accounts for secure internal communication and underscored the importance of strong password management.
In addition, Mr. Yenukon Samson from the General Service Department introduced the new telephone directory aimed at improving internal communication efficiency. Plans are underway to extend these enhancements to zonal offices, ensuring consistent and reliable communication across the organization.
The NSC’s initiative underscores its commitment to modernizing operations, enhancing efficiency, and strengthening cybersecurity measures to support its mandate of promoting effective shipping practices and service delivery excellence.
