Shippers’ Council celebrates Chief Cajetan Agu @ 60

… Akutah lauds the celebrant’s meritorious service

It was indeed a celebration galore in Nigerian Shippers’ Council as the Management and staff of the Council thronged the NSC’s Training Room to felicitate with Chief Cajetan Agu after attaining the mandatory retirement age of sixty years.

Chief Cajetan Chukwuemeka Agu joined the Nigerian Shippers’ Council on the 1st August 1991 as a Maritime Officer. Through commitment, focus and dedication, he rose to the position of Director in the Council.

In his key note address, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Council, Barr. Akutah Pius, MON felicitated with the retiree on the occasion. The NSC boss, who was represented by the Director, Regulatory Services Department of the Council, Mrs. Margaret Ogbonnah described Chief Cajetan Agu as a man with repository of knowledge.

“His wealth of experience in shipping operations coupled with his interface with stakeholders have had significant impact in the Council’s regulatory activities.  He has left a legacy which would forever be remembered by every member of Nigerian Shippers’ Council.’’, he said.

Akutah urged other members of staff of NSC to emulate Chief Cajetan Agu for his exemplary style of leadership and dedication to assigned duties.

The representative of the NSC’s Management, Mr. Celestine Akujobi, Deputy Director, Stakeholders Services in Consumer Affairs Department of the Council, described Chief as a problem solver, honest and open-minded person.

He reminiscence the celebrant’s impactful role in the Nigerian Shippers’ Council.

The President, Nigerian Shippers’ Council Staff Cooperative Society Limited, Mr. Olaolu Adeyemi said the agency’s cooperative society would never forget the contribution of Chief Cajetan Agu to the society, adding that the celebrant was one of the retirees who saved greatly with the society.

Also speaking, the President of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council Senior Staff Association, Mr. Muktar Yakubu appreciated the incisive advice they have been receiving from the celebrant. He was represented by Mr. Vincent Nkwocha, Acting Chairman, Lagos Chapter of the Association.

In his response, Chief Cajetan Agu appreciated Barr. Akutah Pius, MON for granting the permission to organize the program. He urged members of Council’s staff to be disciplined and work assiduously to take the Council to enviable height.
