The Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) Mr. Hassan Bello, has restated that Nigeria needs deep sea ports to attract bigger vessels and boost the economy.
Bello stated this at a seminar organised by the Council for Members of the Abuja Transport and Aviation Correspondents Association (ATACA) on Thursday in Abuja.
He acknowledged that Apapa port is about eight to nine meters, which is not deep enough to accommodate large vessel.
He said if Nigeria could develop more seaports in the country, it would become a hub in the West African sub-region.
