Courtesy visit from Lekki Deep Sea Port’s Management Team

Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), has called on the need for the Lekki Deep Sea Port to adopt advanced technological innovations to enhance its competitiveness.

This call was made by the NSC’s Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Akutah Pius, MON, during a meeting with the Lekki Deep Sea Port management team at the NSC headquarters.

Dr. Akutah described the Lekki Port as a modern, world-class facility that should set the standard for excellence in shipping operations in Nigeria and the region.

He reaffirmed the NSC’s commitment to promoting investment predictability and ensuring the long-term sustainability and profitability of investments in the sector.

The Managing Director of Lekki Deep Sea Port, Mr. Wang Qiang, highlighted the port’s status as a Public Private Partnership (PPP) project, emphasizing the need for investor collaboration to drive its sustainability.

He requested the NSC’s intervention in reviewing the port’s tariffs, citing significant expenditure demands.

Mr. Qiang also expressed the port’s commitment to investing in infrastructure, attracting investors, and achieving transhipment goals, aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda’s objectives. The meeting explored areas of collaboration, with both parties seeking to enhance the competitiveness and efficiency of Nigeria’s maritime industry.
