The Special Adviser to the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Mrs. Folake Wole-Soyinka has emerged the recipient of testimonial of a “Third Paradise” at this year’s edition of MMS Hall of Famers’ Day organized by the registered Non-Governmental Organization, MMS Woman of Fortune Hall of Fame (WoFHoF) Initiative. This was in recognition of her robust record of human empowerment exploits in decades with an inclination for sustainable development.
The event with the theme: The “Third Paradise”- A New Thinking on Woman and Humanity which was held at the Golden Gate Restaurant, Ikoyi, Lagos, was to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations (UN) with the recognition of UN Generation Amazons.
In his welcome address, the Founder of the MMS WoFHoF Initiative, Mr. Kingsley Anaroke explained that the gathering was informed on the need to discuss ways to meet their future expectations as a member of the United Nations.
According to him, the theme- The “Third Paradise” represents the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He further stated that the event is meant to appraise and evaluate its journey on gender parity advocacy and strategy. He urged more women to go into politics and also called on the Federal Government to introduce a gender character principle as policy to reflect the gender sensitivity of the UN SDGs on gender equality with 40% employment opportunity reservation for women in public and private sectors.
Speaking, Mrs. Folake Wole-Soyinka expressed delight for the honour bestowed on her by the organizer of the event. She enjoined women in the maritime industry to be focused, hardworking and most importantly contribute to the growth of not only the maritime industry but the nation at large.
