NSC Boss Bags NUJ’s Media Supporter Award

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), recently honored Dr. Akutah Pius Ukeyima, Esq, MON, FCIILT, FCIOTA, Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), with the Media Supporter Award.

The award was presented to him at their 70th anniversary celebration event, held at the Shehu Musa Yar’adua Conference Centre in Abuja on June 21, 2025.

This award recognizes Dr. Akutah’s unwavering support for press freedom and the media profession.

The NUJ’s 70th anniversary celebration, themed “Celebrating 70 Years of Journalistic Excellence and Future of the Nigerian Press,” featured notable attendees from the National Assembly, Government officials, Heads of agencies, and Media practitioners.

The NUJ also launched Shu’aibu Leman’s book, “The Bleeding Ink,” a chronicle of the perilous journey of journalists in Nigeria from 1973 to 2025

NOTING persistent infractions characterized by discourteous, dismissive, and unethical communication from shipping companies to consignees, agents, and port users concerning critical operational milestones, including cargo arrivals, export cargo evacuation, and operational approvals. NOTING FURTHER the unlawful and dilatory practice wherein shipping companies withhold operational approvals or decisions under the pretext of awaiting instructions or authorization from foreign parent companies or principals.
