The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing terminal operational transparency through the use of the E-Regulatory Process Portal (ERPP), emphasizing streamlined Key Performance Indicators (KPI) submissions. This initiative follows a meeting with Seaport Terminal Operators on Tuesday, June 25th, 2024.
Representing the ES/CEO, Barr. Akutah Pius, the Director, Regulatory Services of the Council Mrs. Margaret Ogbonna opened the discussion by outlining the significance of KPIs in tracking and assessing terminal activities, ensuring operational efficiency across Nigerian ports. She facilitated dialogue among terminal operators, seeking feedback on challenges faced and ensuring clarity on the ERPP’s functionalities.
Mr. Afolabi Michael, an ICT Operations officer from the Regulatory Service Department, provided a detailed demonstration of the ERPP application. He guided terminal operators through the process of linking KPIs within the portal, stressing the importance of completeness in the terminal demo and checklist sections to enable access to performance metrics.
“The ERPP facilitates regular assessment of terminal performance, enabling timely insights and strategic improvements,” Mr. Afolabi remarked, addressing queries raised during the session.
Following constructive discussions, Mrs. Margaret Ogbonna and terminal operators collectively agreed to adjust the KPI submission deadline from the 5th to the 10th day of each month. This adjustment aims to accommodate thorough assessments while maintaining operational efficiency within the terminals.
The NSC’s proactive measures underscore its commitment to promoting accountability and efficiency in Nigeria’s maritime sector, leveraging technology to foster improved operational standards and collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
