Tuesday, April 29, 2025 – The Nigerian Shippers’ Council has successfully facilitated the prompt release of five 40-foot containers holding 15 new SUV cars belonging to Car Loha Nig. Ltd.
Representing the Executive Secretary/CEO, Pius Akutah Ukeyima, Esq, MON, FCILT, Ph.D, the Head of the Complaints Unit, Dr. Bashir Ambi, addressed representatives of the Car Selling Company, Messrs. Joseph and Abubakar of BUA Agency Ltd. Dr. Ambi welcomed them to the Council and stated that they had received a letter from the Maritime Police Command. The letter, referenced CR:3000/MT/FHQ/ANNEX/LA/C/150 and signed by Assistant Commissioner of Police (CID) Mohammed Sani Musa, PSC, on behalf of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Maritime, requested the Executive Secretary/CEO to “effect the release” of the following five containers: ZCSU-7455399, TEMU-6283747, ZCSU-6935541, ZCSU-7388182, and TCNU-4259612. These containers were covered by Bill of Lading Number GOSUNH22072506 and contained 15 new Cherry SUVs with a total value of N269,939,877.48 (Two Hundred and Sixty-Nine Million, Nine Hundred and Thirty-Nine Thousand, Eight Hundred and Seventy-Seven Naira, and Forty-Eight Kobo).
Dr. Ambi informed the representatives that the terminal had been duly notified of the release request. He instructed them to proceed with the delivery of their vehicles and urged them to refrain from importing any suspicious cargo in the future.
Concluding the meeting, the representatives from BUA Agency Ltd expressed their gratitude, stating, “We are grateful for your intervention at no cost.”
