Shippers’ Council gets second position in 2024 Maritime Cup Competition

Nigerian Shippers’ Council has secured 2nd position in this year’s edition of the Ships and Ports Maritime Cup Competition. The NSC team was defeated by Commet Shipping by 2-1 at the soccer fiesta.

Though the soccer fiesta has ended, it was a land mark achievement in the history of Nigerian Shippers’ Council who has never scored the final ticket since its participation in the competition.

Speaking after the event, the Executive Secretary/CEO of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, Barr. Akutah Pius Ukeyima, MON, appreciated the Ships and Ports Communication Company for coming up with the incisive initiative to hold this year’s edition of the Maritime Cup Competition.

The ES/CEO, who was represented by the Director, Human Resources Management Department of the Council, Mrs. Adaku Okam, said that the competition is aimed at celebrating unity, co-existence and progress among agencies and stakeholders in the maritime industry.

According to Akutah, “it must not always be about work, one should create time for recreation”. He lauded the athlete to demonstrate team spirit and discipline throughout the tournament.

In his assessment of the competition, the Director, Strategic Planning and Research Department,

Mr. Rotimi Anifowose, who played a sizeable chunk of the first half commended the teams for their sportsmanship and discipline. He also commended the match officials for their fairness throughout the competition. In his remark, the MD/CEO of Ships and Ports Communication Company, Dr. Bolaji Akinola, said that, by encouraging participation in sports, the maritime cup promotes healthy lifestyles, discipline, skills development and sportsmanship among others
